Buried at Bay

So who knew when they say "buried at Sea" that in San Diego it really means buried in the bay! We all gathered Sunday, October 12 to pay homage and remember our Uncle Bill, my mother's brother (Mom is now officially an orphan, having lost her mother, father, two brothers and sister...but she is 89 years old...I'm thinking she just outlived them all!). Susie (Uncle Bill's granddaughter, in green in the picture), along with Bill's daughter, who I also call Susie (but I think she goes by Carol now) and her son Christopher and girlfriend, Caleigh, took a short cruise through San Diego Bay to the final resting spot for Uncle Bill. He had wanted to be buried at sea, but apparently "past the last buoy" in San Diego is determined to be legal for an "at sea" burial. Susie (who I call Little Susie) said it was beautiful and heartwarming. If you look out from Cabrillo Monument or over from Hotel Del, you can see Bill's final resting spot.

We all then gathered at Presidio Park, by the arbor, for sandwiches and dessert and to spend some family time together remembering an uncle/brother/dad/grandad well loved. Also pictured here next to Little Susie (who is from San Francisco area....do you think she's an Obama Mama???) are my cousins, Karen, Shirley, Diana and Karen's way-cool daughter, Kim. Kim and I share the same child-rearing beliefs.....so I like her a lot!! Behind the first group is Karen's sister and another girl (who I neglected to find out her name....so sorry) Great bunch of girls; all of them.

And from Burials at Bay, we move quickly to Backyard Birthdays...in this case, Haley's 3rd. What fun that was, complete with a huge-ass water slide and cupcakes from VG's Donuts...the best in the land!

RGG (remember him....the Resident Golf Guy....also Papa to the little ones) and I are babysitting Jim while Tracy and Jesse travel to Seattle for a little R & R (they should have been flying to Scotland but Zoom Airlines went bankrupt before their flight ever left San Diego). Tracy chose Seattle for her vacation because she wanted to use her new coat and new boots she had purchased for Scotland.....sure hope it's cold enough in old Seattle. I took Jim to Jason's football game and he and Haley spent a bit of time, throwing golf balls around the field. (Note to Grammy Tammy....golf balls and small children...not a good idea....#1...they roll a hell of a long way, especially those new Taylormade Burners...and #2...when Jim finally decides to throw one, it hurts like hell (I won't download what my skinned up nose looks like).

But all in all, a great week spent with Jim. He played well, slept well, napped great, ate just okay...filled a few diapers.

He threw a ball at your face?! Are you kidding? Ugh. Sorry. What a brat!!!

By the way, even though we didn't get to Scotland, Jesse was able to wear a kilt in Seattle. We found a kilt store and they had him drop his pants....priceless! Oy!

The more amazing thing was the way those Taylormade Burners roll.....exactly as advertised....great golf ball for those looking for a new one.

You should write Taylormade about that. :)

Now that I saw you give your dearest daughter a hard time...where is your next entry already? Or should I call Tracy over here and we bust out the "L" comparison on you?! :)
